Top 5 Ways to Stay Online Even When Traveling

Posted by admin On September - 7 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

In this day and age, nothing stays at one place. Everything moves. Everyone moves. But no matter where we are, we always have to be updated with what’s happening with the people we love and the rest of the world. That’s why we love the Internet. It breaks physical and even cultural barriers.

So how about those who travel a lot? How do they keep in touch with everyone else? Is the cyberspace accessible and friendly to those who do not know the word “stay?”

It is. It’s just a matter of how you get there. Here are some suggestions.

5. Carry around your laptop while traveling.

Having your mobile PC with you all the time does not just provide you an electronic organizer but also a link to everyone while you are away. All you need to do is find a telephone, buy a prepaid Internet card and voila, you’re good to go.

But if you are a Globe subscriber, you don’t need a landline or an Internet card. You can just use Globe 3G network to browse the Internet by synchronizing your mobile phone to your laptop using Bluetooth. GPRS charges can be time-based (P15/30mins) or KB-based (0.15/KB)

4. Look for local wireless hotspots.

If telephone is a rare privilege for you, try to find wi-fi zones. There’s a reason coffee today is overpriced. Coffee shops don’t just serve delicious coffee. Some also offer unlimited wi-fi access. Take advantage of it.

3. Find an Internet café.

Too often, we realize that carrying around a laptop is not really the most practical thing to do. If all you have to do is check your email or let the world know that you’re still alive and kicking, it is best to just visit the nearest Internet shop in the area. It is much cheaper and more convenient.

2. Choose a hotel that provides free Internet access.

Due to stiff competition, many hotels offer free high-speed Internet access. Grab the opportunity. Who would ever say “no” to free?

1. Use your cellphone.

You won’t believe how much your cellphone can do for you. Calling, texting and playing Snake aren’t the only uses of mobile phones today. It is also your ticket to the cyberspace anytime, anywhere. You can check your email, read blogs or search the entire World Wide Web for information.
